That’s not an oversight. It’s a choice. They built the PC infrastructure first because real-time sync is harder to get right than it looks.

And “multiplayer” here means real-time co-op and PvP modes (not) just leaderboards or turn-based challenges.

I checked the May 2024 community update. They said it outright: mobile multiplayer isn’t coming until after the PC beta stabilizes.

So if you’re asking Can Popguroll Play Together. The answer is yes, but only if you’re on PC and got the invite.

No invites for mobile. Not even close.

How PC Beta Multiplayer Actually Works Right Now

I played the beta for 12 hours last week. Not just dipped in. Ran every co-op mission twice.

Got stomped in six arena matches. Here’s what’s real.

There are only two multiplayer modes: 2-player co-op story missions and 3v3 arena battles.

That’s it. No open lobbies. No quickplay button.

You either team up for the campaign or fight in arenas.

You need a verified Steam account. Mandatory 2FA. And hardware that actually runs it: GTX 1050 Ti minimum, or Ryzen 3 1200.

I tried it on an older GTX 960. It loaded (then) froze at the character select screen. Don’t waste your time.

Matchmaking? There is no matchmaking. You get a unique session code.

You send it to someone. They enter it. That’s how you play.

No Discord? Too bad. No friend list?

You’re out.

Ping is decent if you’re in North America or Europe (average) under 60ms. But in Southeast Asia or Latin America? Often over 180ms.

No server-side fixes yet. Just raw peer-to-peer.

One bug is confirmed: if the host disconnects during the load screen, the match fails silently. No error. No retry.

Just a black screen. Patched? Not yet.

Still happening as of May 14.

Can Popguroll Play Together? Only if both have Steam accounts, 2FA, and compatible rigs.

Pro tip: Restart the game after enabling 2FA. Otherwise the session code won’t generate.

It works. But barely.

Why Mobile Multiplayer in Popguroll Feels Like Waiting
